JIM MANNING, LOCAL BALLOON ARTIST, BUILDING WORLD’S FIRST BALLOON MONSTER RESTAURANT AT “MONSTERIA” UNO’S IN PORTER SQUARE TO SUPPORT FUNDRAISER. To celebrate Halloween, local balloon professional Jim Manning of Cambridge will team up with 10 other balloon artists to help build a world-renowned, five-room, 2500-square-foot haunted restaurant made from thousands of balloons called Monsteria Uno’s. The build will take place at the Uno Chicago Grill restaurant in Porter Square in Cambridge, MA. Monsteria Uno’s 2009 is themed Monsteria Uno’s: The Haunted Restaurant – a frightfully funny monster restaurant featuring such delicacies as Eyeball Soup, Monster Mash, Dead Lady Fingers, the Road-Kill Special of the week, and much more. This year, Monsteria Uno’s is partnering with two local charities through the Dough Rai$er program donating 20% of the nights receipts to: the Somerville Youth Hockey League IceCats, a not-for-profit organization intended to support and provide skating opportunities to as many children as possible; and the Benjamin Banneker Charter School of Cambridge, whose 300-plus students have created Autumn artwork that will be featured prominently on the walls at Uno Chicago Grill.
